The track

Ducts, notkerbs.

An F1TENTH-style circuit: white air ducts lie on the floor along both edges of the track, and they are the track limits. Eight layouts fit inside one 18 × 10 m hall space.

  • Space18 × 10 m
  • Width1.2 m or more
  • Layouts8, for registered teams
  • Lap38.6 – 53.2 m

Soft walls, both sides.

The edges are flexible air ducts, 300 to 330 mm across, laid one high and never stacked. The joints are butted and tied closed, and marshals close any gap over 5 cm before every run.

  • Touching a duct is fineContact with the barriers isn't penalised.
  • Moving one isn'tDisplacing a duct, or needing a recovery, is a penalty. Marshals put the ducts back on their floor marks before the next run.
  • 1.8 m on the start straight1.2 m or more everywhere else, measured between the inner faces of the ducts.

Cross-section, to scale. The floor surface is confirmed after the venue survey.

Eight layouts. One backbone.

The start straight, the timing gates and the obstacle line never move. Only the ducts behind the start straight change, so each round of the knockout races a new lap. Registered teams get the drawings, a 3D model and simulator maps. The map below is a demo lap, not one of the eight.

  • Air ducts
  • Driving line
  • Speed trap
  • Moving obstacle
  • Cones

Four sections with names.

The Monza Straight is in every layout. The Monaco Hairpin and the Snake Road are in the two qualifying layouts. The speed bump is used where the layout drawing shows it.

Monza Straight

The start straight, and the fastest part of every lap. Two light gates 5 m apart make the speed trap.

12 m long · 1.8 m wide

AUTONOMA: a moving obstacle crosses after the speed trap, from the round of 32 on.

Monaco Hairpin

A 180° turn that rewards precise steering. Brake too late and the hairpin wins.

Inner radius 0.8 m or more

Snake Road

Four cones on the centre line. The slalom is compulsory: weave through, passing the cones on alternate sides. Which side the first cone is taken on, and the penalty for missing the slalom, will be in the rulebook.

4 cones, 1.5 m apart · 1.5 m wide

Speed bump

A ramp up, a flat top and a ramp down, the full width of the track, with a warning sign before it.

15 mm high · 300 mm long (height not to scale)

AIDA · cameras

Six phones. Nothing on the ceiling.

Six phones recording 4K stand on 4.5 m poles beside the track, three on each long side, aimed across it. Each car carries a two-colour plate on its roof, so the cameras can tell the cars apart and see which way each one points.

  • 4.5 m stands, both sidesAt least four are needed; six are planned. No camera hangs from the ceiling, so any hall works.
  • A plate on every roof120 × 120 mm, in two colours: one half at the front, one at the rear. Which colours each car gets will be announced.
  • Gates time, people decideLap times come from the light gates. AIDA's tracking helps marshals review incidents, with a short video review when needed.
